Volunteering

Who's Needed?

  Men,Woman,Teens(14+) Licensed Therapists and Psychologists

"Come join our Fun, Family Environment"

Volunteers are crucial to the success of our program and its riders! Without volunteers we would not be able to offer this invaluable service! We would greatly appreciate your time as a  volunteer. There are several types of volunteer opportunities, so we’ll sure to find one that find one (or two!) that matches your interest. Volunteering is great way to meet new people, get involved with the community and provides a tremendous feeling of pride and satisfaction by helping others!

Volunteering with riders and horses:
Working with a horse and rider can be one of the most rewarding experiences, when volunteering for the therapeutic riding lessons you have the opportunity to work directly with our riders, and contribute to their individual success.

A typical day for a volunteer may including a variety of different things:
Grooming and preparing therapy horses for riding lessons
Assisting with the preparation of a therapy lesson such as setting up games, obstacle courses, and more.
Assisting the rider before the lesson by helping with their helmet and walking to the mounting area
Being a side aide or horse leader during a riding lesson
Assisting with maintenance of equipment such as cleaning bridles, saddles and equipment

Volunteers must be age 14 or older and training is required and is provided to all volunteers working with riders and horses at no charge. The training sessions focus on the importance of safety, understanding and fun! Each therapy lesson may require up to 3 volunteers, 1 volunteer will lead the horse, and 2 volunteers work as side walkers to assist and attend to the safety of the rider. We need Volunteers for Days, Nights and Weekends.

Volunteers should  sign up to work at least 2 consecutive time slots on a weekly basis in order to better connect with the rider and for ease of scheduling. Volunteers arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled lesson time, the lesson runs 30-60 minutes, and clean up (putting equipment away, sweep, etc) usually lasts 15-30 minutes. Its important volunteers arrive on time ready to prepare for the lesson. It’s possible that a rider may have to forfeit their lesson if there are not enough volunteers present. As you can see, volunteers are very important to the success of our riders!

* VOLUNTEERS ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE,  OUR RIDERS WILL APPRECIATE THEIR VOLUNTEERS FOR WITHOUT THEIR HELP, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN RIDING THERAPY. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO GIVE ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 6 HOURS PER WEEK, A COMMITMENT WE GREATLY DEPEND ON. AS ANYONE WHO WORKS WITH VOLUNTEERS KNOWS, THERE NEVER SEEMS TO BE ENOUGH CARING PEOPLE TO GO AROUND BUT THE ONES WHO GIVE OF THEMSELVES ARE UNIQUE. WE WELCOME ALL NEW VOLUNTEERS.  WE INVITE YOU TO BECOME PART OF OUR FAMILY. IF YOU CAN'T COMMIT TO ONCE A WEEK, WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR ANY TIME THAT YOU CAN SPARE. WE ALSO HAVE MANY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE NOT HORSE RELATED, FOR EXAMPLE: SECRETARIAL, PUBLIC RELATIONS, FUND RAISERS, FUND RAISING, BABYSITTING YOUNGER SIBLINGS, MAINTENANCE, ETC.,

If This Interests You, GREAT! Then Please Contact Us BY E-MAIL As We Are Very Busy And Cannot Always Return Calls Promptly. Be sure to let us know what volunteer opportunity interests you. We look forward to working with you and thank you for your support
